Ms. Fritzie de Vera
It was a verse in Jeremiah that led me to a deep reflection on how I should respond to a call to take a bigger responsibility in De La Salle University. The verse came out during one of our sessions in the Lasallian Leadership and Formation Program in 2009. The LLFP was a very significant part of my leadership journey as it taught me how to deepen my relationship with God through prayer, reflection and Lectio Divina.

“For I know the plans I have for you” - This message from the Gospel plus the wonderful story of De La Salle, on responding to one call after the other leading him to various commitments made me commit myself to any assignment or ministry given to me since then.
I say yes for the Mission. I am La Salle.

After my term as Dean of Student Affairs for 6 years I was blessed to work in the Lasallian Pastoral Office handling faith formation for both students and adult members of the DLSU Community. A year after i was privileged to be assigned in the Social engagement arm of the university - Center for Social Concern in Action. This further deepened my understanding of the poor. It allowed me to be more sensitive to the needs of the communities and moved me to bring the students, faculty and staff closer to the experience of the marginalized communities. I realized that when God calls me to do His work He equips and provides me the grace I needed to learn to become a better servant.

My new ministry now in the Lasallian Mission in DLSU allowed me to aspire for a more meaningful and purposeful education for the students and a more integrated faculty and staff who can see their work as a vocation. We dream of a Lasallian community where members work towards educating the young and contributing to the Lasallian Mission. These educators we hope will be always inspired and moved by the values of Faith, Service and Communion in Mission.
